Nose

Aromas of blueberry, cranberry and black
currant with notes of toasted fennel, tea leaves and cocoa.

Palate

Flavors of
black berries and plum, accented by notes of fig, vanilla and cedar fill
the mid-palate. The texture is velvety and weighty with chewy tannins
on the lengthy finish.

Growing Conditions

Estate vineyard on Napa Valley floor on Pratt Avenue, bordered by Napa
River and York Creek. Bale loam soil. This wine is grown on the south
parcel, “Block 1,” where the loam is heavier in sand and gravel…a lowvigor
ribbon of ancient river bed. Cover crops are primarily legumes. The
vines are cane pruned and hand-tended to yield two clusters per shoot.
The parcel yields two tons per acre.

Hand-picked fruit, double sorted to berry level
Cold soak before fermentation, 5 days
D254 yeast fermentation
14 days extended maceration

Aging

22 months in French Oak barrels, Bossuet, Darnajou.

Appearance

Inky purple hues.
