Nose
It bursts from the glass with intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cassis with a hint of vanilla, nutmeg, and caramel.
Palate
On the palate, the texture is silky smooth with layered flavors of black fruit and dark chocolate. EPISODE is mouthfilling and robust with a structure that promises long aging potential.
Growing Conditions
Lauded as one of Napa Valley’s top vintages, the 2010 growing season started late with spring rains delaying bud break and a cool summer delaying veraison. Thankfully, a long Indian summer pushed harvest well into October and the berries came to the winery with a beautiful balance of acidity and ripeness, with the complexity that long, slow ripening allows.
Winemaking
EPISODE 2010 was fermented in small lots in stainless steel tanks with daily pumpovers for robust extraction of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine spent an additional four weeks on the skins to further increase the intensity of flavor and structure.
Aging
Aging took place in 100% new French oak for 21 months and aged an additional 14 months in bottle prior to release.
