Nose

This wine exudes an elegant
array of aromas, from bright red cherry and mountain blueberry fruits to black olive,
cola and sage.

Palate

The palate is equally pleasing and rounded, opening with a rush of red
berries, Luxardo cherry and red plum that smoothly give way to touches of subtle sage,
coffee bean and briar that continue through the meandering finish, supported by soft
and supple tannins and vibrant acidity.

Growing Conditions

The mild 2011 vintage allowed for a long hang time,
resulting in evenly ripe, complex flavors in the berries.

Harvest

The fruit for this wine was harvested
at an optimal level of ripeness late September to late October.

Winemaking

Fermentation took place
at a high temperature to ensure that maximum extraction was achieved.

Aging

Racked to 30% new French oak barrels. The wine was aged in barrel for a total of 18
months before bottling.

Appearance

Gleaming brilliant ruby in the glass.

Food Pairing

Ripe and elegant, this Merlot would pair beautifully with a variety of savory
dishes, such as crispy roast duck with mashed potatoes and caramelized onions.
Additionally, this wine matched with Piave Vecchio, an Italian cow’s milk cheese, would
make a fantastic cheese course.
