Nose
Our 2014 Chenin Blanc offers enticing aromas of honeysuckle, Key
lime juice and sweet pea, interlaced with subtle notes of hazelnut and fresh honeydew
melon.
Palate
The wine exhibits a rounded mouthfeel with bright acidity, opening with
refreshing flavors of ripe white nectarine and sweet candied lime, leading into hints of
spun sugar and citrus blossom that linger through the clean, lasting finish.
Growing Conditions
2014 began with an extremely dry winter in
Clarksburg with unusually warm temperatures and minimal rain, extending into
the summer with very few heat spikes, allowing even ripening and yielding exquisite,
balanced fruit.
Harvest
Our Chenin Blanc was harvested in late August at low sugar levels
to ensure a bright fruit character and low alcohol in the finished wine.
Aging
The wine was
fermented in 33% new French oak barrels, aged for ten months and stirred occasionally to
promote complexity.
Food Pairing
Vibrant and bright, this supple Chenin Blanc would pair wonderfully with
a variety of dishes, such as pork and long bean stir fry or salmon and leek croquettes.
This versatile wine would also delight alongside spicy dishes and would make an
excellent partner to a cheese course when matched with Bijou, a semi-soft goat’s milk
cheese from Vermont.
