Nose
Ripe and smoky on the nose, the 2004 Charmstone exudes concentrated aromas of
blackberry, blueberry and candied red cherry, with hints of tea, dark chocolate and cinnamon.
Palate
This medium to
full-bodied blend is loaded with cherry and ripe berry fl avors and exhibits great balance, acidity and integration of
oak. Capped by a supple, extended fi nish of jammy fruits, tobacco and spice, this wine is enjoyable now or can be
cellared for up to eight years.
Growing Conditions
We are pleased to present Charmstone, a wine created to honor our vineyard and cellar crews whose
passion and hard work make this and other wines in the Pine Ridge portfolio possible. Charmstone is comprised
of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a small amount of Petit Verdot and Malbec. These Napa Valley grown
grapes were blended in the Bordeaux style for structure, complexity and ageability.
Fruit was harvested from select vineyards in a handful of the Napa Valley’s most renowned appellations,
including Oakville, Howell Mountain, Rutherford and Carneros. Known for their distinct terroir, each of
these appellations imparts its unique characteristics in the fruit, contributing to Charmstone’s overall complexity.
Bottling
Bottled without fining in June 2006.
Winemaking
The wine underwent an extended maceration period of up to 31 days to develop supple
tannins.
Aging
Aged for 17 months in heavily toasted, chateau-style French oak barrels, primarily coopered by
Sylvain of Libourne.
