Nose

Captivating aromas of espresso dark chocolate, toasted s’more, ripe
blackberry and spicy red cherry exude from this complex Cabernet Franc.

Palate

The first sip offers richly textured flavors of currant compote and blackberry
cobbler moving into a structured mid-palate of sweet tobacco and juicy
plum. Finishing with long, smooth notes of cassis and raspberry, this wine
is delightful now and will continue to mature for the next decade. Enjoy now through 2024.

Growing Conditions

Peju’s Rutherford Estate is home to thirty acres of vines that stretch from
Highway 29 to the Napa River. With an emphasis placed on green farming
initiatives, our H.B. Vineyard has achieved California Certified Organic
status and is planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet
Franc, and Merlot. The wine produced here is a classic representation
of Rutherford, a historic appellation known for wines of great depth,
complexity, and longevity.

A textbook grape growing year for the Napa Valley, 2013 started off
with healthy winter rains leading into a warm, dry spring and an early
bud break. The extended heat spike at the start of July made summer
temperatures consistently warm, allowing the grapes to mature steadily
and develop complex flavors. Winemaker Sara Fowler describes 2013 as
“beautiful, balanced and delicious.”
