Nose
The 2014 Beatty Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon offers enchanting aromas of plum, cassis, olive and char.
Palate
Red and black fruit flavors mingle beautifully with green olive, basil and pepper. A vibrant acidity marries with plush, coating tannins that expand through the midpalate to a finely contoured finish. Enticing in its youth, and the Howell Mountain structure allows you to cellar this wine for years to come.
Growing Conditions
Howell Mountain is a special place above the clouds. When the valley experiences the fog that moves in during the summer, this vineyard usually enjoys the warmth of the sun. This added heat is both a blessing and a curse in that it is easy to get ripe fruit, however we must wait to harvest in order to get mature tannins. The red, rocky soils are ideal to produce moderate sized vines and this vineyard is comprised of 4 different clones, each providing a unique flavor profile to the overall wine.
