The wine expresses itself with a refreshing balance of nuanced notes of mineral, fresh apple, kumquat and a soft lemon and a little marmalade flavor on the finish.

Growing Conditions

This white Bordeaux varietal comes from a small vineyard block planted 70 years ago. These vines were planted by my great-grandfather and a great-uncle in 1946. Today, only 8.2 acres exist in all of Napa County. It is a pleasure to work with these old, rare vines and I like to highlight their unique varietal characteristic of mineral flavors in combination with the tropical fruit flavors often found in the wines grown in the higher altitude of Napa’s Chiles Valley District.

The grape production of these old vines is low, concentrating the flavors. The grapes were hand-harvested at night, slowly fermented, and have had no contact with oak.
