Nose
Our 2008 St. Helena Cabernet shows opulent aromas of kirsch, blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate and vanilla bean wrapped in toasty oak.
Palate
The mouthfeel is intense and full-bodied with fine tannins and a finish that lasts for a minute. The wine is showing great in its youth and will improve for many years. We do recommend decanting in its youth.
Growing Conditions
Our St. Helena Cabernet is primarily grown on our Estate Vineyard located in the hills high above St. Helena. Since its replanting ten years ago under the direction of Michel Rolland, this David Abreu farmed property has consistently delivered lots that stand out for their plush fruitiness and silky tannins.
Vineyard Designation: Merryvale St. Helena Estate
Winemaking
The grapes went through extended maceration and a long, cold ferment to preserve flavor, color and aromatics
Aging
We aged the wine for 20 months in French Oak.
