Nose

Aromas of citrus blossoms, vanilla bean, and baking spice, with a hint of toasted oak.

Palate

The palate highlights the citrus and vanilla, followed by notes of crème brûlée, spiced pear, and dark caramel

Growing Conditions

The 2015 growing season was the fourth consecutive year of drought in California, which, coupled with warmer temperatures in January and February, led to an early bud-break. Spring weather resulted in a protracted bloom, smaller grape clusters, and variable crop size. Summer offered primarily warm, even temperatures, providing ideal ripening conditions. A heat-surge at the end of the season culminated in an early, small, and elegant vintage.

Our 2015 West Block Chardonnay is crafted from fruit sourced from Block 8 on our Estate vineyard, a select lot that consistently produces lush, rich fruit.

Harvest

Harvested in the pre-dawn hours of September 17, the fruit was then pressed whole cluster and allowed to settle for 24 hours.

Aging

The juice was racked to French oak barrels for primary fermentation, which was then followed by 100% malolactic fermentation. 90% new French oak barrels were used to age the wine for 12 months sur lie, stirring every two weeks to enrich the plush mouthfeel and vibrant texture.
