Nose
The nose displays aromas of dark currant, dark cherry, and ripe plum, with added hints of cinnamon, clove, dusty mushroom, and forest floor to add a touch of complexity. There is a subtle touch of green tea and molasses as well.
Palate
Firm acidity and resolved tannins on the palate are paired with ripe cherry, plum, cocoa powder, and bittersweet chocolate.
Growing Conditions
Heavy winter rains made vineyard work difficult, but precipitation occurred before bud break. Spring was cool, causing a late start in growth and fruit set. Harvest was late, yields down and berry size small. This combined with long “hang time” developed intense flavor and good color.
