A master of cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Winemaker Steve Rogstad has spent most of his professional life making wine in the Los Carneros appellation. Since 2002, Steve has guided the winemaking at Cuvaison, crafting wines that have earned renown for their seamless balance and vineyard-inspired depth and complexity. Working with Cuvaison’s acclaimed estate vineyard for more than 15 years, Steve refined a vineyard-driven approach to winemaking that takes advantage of the site’s remarkable diversity, including doing as many as 80 individual fermentations each vintage—a small-batch, labor-intensive approach that defines Cuvaison’s estate-grown wines.

Sparkling

Named in honor of one of our founders, this wine is a selection of our four ﬁnest barrels of Chardonnay. Our 2019 Chardonnay, ATS starts with ﬂoral notes, acacia and orange blossom alongside notes of white peach and lush apricot. On the palate the stonefruit layers against the charming oak notes, brioche and marzipan and are supported by citrus tones of lime and grapefruit adding brightness and length to the rich ﬁnish.

Inspired by 50 years of winemaking excellence, these micro-production rarities explore different styles, clones and winemaking techniques to create some of our most beloved and highly allocated wines.

Made in the classic Méthode Champenoise style, the 2018 Brut Cuvée is an 
opulent blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The wine is crisp and youthful with notes of pear, yuzu, and lemon peel complemented by the nuttiness of shaved almond and savory brioche. On the palate, the wine is bright and refreshing, and ﬁnishes with a distinct richness derived from its extended 30-month tirage.  

Named after its method of fermentation in concrete eggs, the second bottling of this opulent Chardonnay is a result of experimentation and curiosity. A blend of two clones, Dijon 548 and Dijon 95, the 2020 Chardonnay, Méthode Béton is beautifully perfumed with notes of orange blossom and acacia ﬂower. On the palate, the 2020 vintage offers a rich texture from extended aging on its lees, with notes of shaved almond, white peach, and citrus for a bright, crisp ﬁnish.

Referring to our technique of fermentation and aging in concrete eggs, our 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Méthode Béton exudes depth and creaminess on the palette due to extended contact with the lees. Featuring lovely notes of grapefruit, kiwi, melon and passion fruit, the roundness and richness of the wine is on full display ending in a long, shimmering ﬁnish.

Our 2019 Chardonnay, Hedon is a barrel selection from 3 distinct parcels from our Los Carneros estate. This wine spent 16 months in French oak barrels aged on its lees, providing the wine with a rich and creamy accent to the vanilla and buttered brioches notes on the palate. Our 2019 Chardonnay, Hedon is a rich, full-bodied wine brimming notes of ripe, jammy apricot, peach, lemon curd and candied almonds ending in a long, sumptuous ﬁnish.
