A brief history

Since 1969, Cuvaison has helped define the modern era of Napa Valley winemaking and has played a key role in introducing luxury Napa Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to the world. An early pioneer of the Los Carneros region, Cuvaison has championed vibrant and vineyard-driven expressions of exceptional cool-climate wines.

Cooled by the fog off nearby San Pablo Bay, the gently rolling hills of our certified-sustainable estate have been the source for some of Napa Valley’s most beloved cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for decades. Dedicated to crafting vibrant, vineyard-driven wines, our talented team employs an intimate block-by-block approach to farming that builds on our 40 years of experience and wisdom cultivating our vineyard.

Meet The Team

  • Steve Rogstad

A master of cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Winemaker Steve Rogstad has spent most of his professional life making wine in the Los Carneros appellation. Since 2002, Steve has guided the winemaking at Cuvaison, crafting wines that have earned renown for their seamless balance and vineyard-inspired depth and complexity. Working with Cuvaison’s acclaimed estate vineyard for more than 15 years, Steve refined a vineyard-driven approach to winemaking that takes advantage of the site’s remarkable diversity, including doing as many as 80 individual fermentations each vintage—a small-batch, labor-intensive approach that defines Cuvaison’s estate-grown wines.
