Palate

This wine is big bodied, chewy, with moderate tannin and a coffee-mocha character.

Growing Conditions

Grown on a small 40-year-old vineyard in Oakley, the grapes for this 2014 Petite Sirah flourished through hot days and river-cooled evening breezes. Deep, sandy soil, dry farming, and hand-harvesting resulted in grapes with extraordinary intensity and richness.

Winemaking

A very gentle crushing left a large portion of whole berries in the must. Fermented with select cultured yeasts, the juice was maintained at the ideal temperature until we achieved the ideal extraction of flavor and color.

Aging

Once pressed off its skins, the wine was racked to medium- toasted French Oak (approximately 30% new) and gently aged for ten months.

Food Pairing

This complex and versatile wine pairs well with foods like lamb, braised meats, grilled salmon or Mushroom Risotto.
