Palate
A dry sparkling wine with creaminess on the palate. A saline quality and a fresh lemon zest character.
Growing Conditions
Originally purchased in 1979 by Tom Burgess, this was a 50-acre Chardonnay vineyard known as Triere, a term for “select,” or “choice.” Now called Quartz Creek, this is one of the most geologically diverse vineyards we own. The soils are part of the alluvial fan that swept down from the Mayacamas, along with uplifted marine sediments, and a high proportion of quartz.
Winemaking
The Burgess Blanc de Blanc is made from 100% Chardonnay using the traditional méthode champenoise. The fruit is brought in early from the Quartz Creek Vineyard to capture acidity and freshness. With only 1 ½ grams of dosage. 18 months of lees contact.
