Nose

aromas of black cherry and rose petal with hints of cola.

Palate

Flavors of perfectly ripe plum and raspberry intermingle with a nuance of spice. The wine has balanced acidity with a silky, supple mouth feel, soft tannins and a long, smooth finish.

Growing Conditions

The 2014 vintage in Napa Valley continued the recent trend of warm, dry and ideal growing conditions. Early warm weather in Spring allowed the vines to break bud early, more than 2 weeks earlier than normal in some vineyards. Thankfully, the warm Spring weather continued and the vines were off to a strong and healthy start. While California experienced strong drought conditions throughout the state, the dry heat actually helped the vines to grow powerfully-concentrated, high-quality fruit. As Harvest began the weather cooled slightly, which slowed ripening and allowed the grapes to develop complex and impressive flavor. These ideal harvest conditions meant we could harvest each vineyard block at its peak and make some of the most impressive wines in recent memory.
