Nose

The 2014 Propriety Red is a multi-layered wine with a spectrum of red and dark fruit, undertones of black slate and savory aromas of white pepper, tarragon, and black olive.

Palate

This wine has an elegant structure and classic appeal, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish that continues to evolve on the palate.

Growing Conditions

This Proprietary Red Blend is the truest expression of its vintage, with each year’s release containing different combinations of the five Bordeaux varietals sourced from Arrowood’s top vineyard sites. Each year winemaker, Kristina Shideler, strives to create the most complete and complex wine possible outside the bounds of a single varietal. This means that the blending process can often go through over twenty iterations before the ultimate blend is selected for optimal structure, texture, and finish.

Winemaking

Stainless steel fermented, malolactic in tank, then racked to barrel.

Aging

Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (48% new). After 18 months, the wine was pulled out of barrel, blended and placed back into the original barrels for an additional 6 months to integrate.
