Nose

The wine bursts from the glass with exuberant aromas of ripe currant, cherry, vanilla, baking spice, and savory herbs.

Palate

Deep and rich with underlying muscle, the palate shows very fine, silky tannins and vibrant fruits with subtle intensity, taut, but with a wiry muscularity and finesse that proves its impeccable pedigree.

Growing Conditions

Originally planted in 1868 by Hamilton Crabb, the To Kalon vineyard has produced some of the Napa Valley's best Cabernet Sauvignon ever since, gaining legendary status as one of America’s first-growth vineyards. To Kalon, Ancient Greek for “the highest beauty,” sits on prime Oakville benchland where well-drained, gravelly soils combine with optimal sun exposure to yield rich, complex flavors and impeccable fruit maturity.

2014 was an excellent vintage for Napa winemaking, the third consecutive such vintage, following the stunning successes of both 2012 and 2013. Despite a regional drought, significant rains in February and March gave the vineyards a healthy soaking, and set up the vines for early budbreak. A mild spring and “perfect” summer temperatures brought grapes to optimum ripeness before an early harvest. The resulting wines show intense aromatics and complex fruit character.
