Growing Conditions

The 2015 Amici Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon lives up to the storied reputation of To Kalon as one of the finest vineyards in the country. Originally planted in 1868 by Hamilton Crabb, this vineyard has produced some of the Napa Valley's best Cabernet Sauvignons, gaining legendary status as one of America’s first- growth vineyards. To Kalon sits on prime Oakville benchland where well-drained, gravelly soils combine with optimal sun exposure to yield rich flavors and impeccable fruit maturity.

2015 was a stellar vintage for Napa winemaking. A cool spring meant smaller grape clusters and resulted in lower yields than usual, while the quality of fruit was exceptional. Warm summer weather brought grapes to optimum ripeness before one of the earliest harvests in memory. The resulting wines show intense aromatics and complex fruit character.

Winemaking

The power of this heritage vineyard lies in its distinct nose with aromas of mineral driven clay and loam, black olive with currant and cherry liquor. The palate is driven by dense minerality, dried dark fruits, plum and roasted herbs. The power of this wine plays with our senses from the moment of inhale, through its mineral and earth flavors and finishes with an impressive finish that continues on the palate.
