Growing Conditions

The 2015 Amici Cellars Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Cabernet Sauvignon is a complex and elegant wine showcasing the hallmarks of this famed vineyard. Missouri Hopper, one of Napa’s oldest vineyards, consists of 45 acres on the famed Oakville Bench. Purchased by Charles Hopper and given to his daughter Missouri in 1877, today it is owned by the Beckstoffer family. Wines from this vineyard consistently display a balance of power and refinement.

2015 was a stellar vintage for Napa winemaking. A cool spring meant smaller grape clusters and resulted in lower yields than usual, while the quality of fruit was exceptional. Warm summer weather brought grapes to optimum ripeness before one of the earliest harvests in memory. The resulting wines show intense aromatics and complex fruit character.

Winemaking

A gorgeous full nose of fresh blackberry, cherry and warm black olive washed with hints of vanilla bean emulate the younger vine blocks that constitute 60% of this wine. A sweet and sour palate promotes refreshing acidity, sweet dark cherry juice, iron and cassis. The 40% of older 30- year vines add savory herbs, cola nut, coco powder and baking spice that live long through a powdery and chewy finish.

Aging

100% stainless steel fermentation. Aged 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels
