Nose

This wine is inky black in color with heady, complex aromatics including currant, brambleberry, pomegranate, toasted vanilla, caramelized sugar, maduro tobacco, dark chocolate, baking and exotic spices.

Palate

Densely structured on the palate, the wine shows intense viscosity and rich fruit, chocolate, and licorice flavors from its full mid-palate to its long, brooding finish.

Growing Conditions

2014 was an excellent vintage for Napa winemaking, the third consecutive such vintage, following the stunning successes of both 2012 and 2013. Despite a regional drought, significant rains in February and March gave the vineyards a healthy soaking, and set up the vines for early budbreak. A mild spring and “perfect” summer temperatures brought grapes to optimum ripeness before an early harvest. The resulting wines show intense aromatics and complex fruit character.

Winemaking

This 2014 Amici Cellars Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon highlights the lush, ripe fruit of valley floor vineyards, along with the structure and ageability of Napa Valley’s best mountain appellations. The grapes for this wine were sourced from ultra-premium vineyards in Napa Valley, 75% from premier mountain vineyards on Spring Mountain at Atlas Peak and 25% of the blend being premier valley floor vineyards in Rutherford and Oakville. The result is a wine of uncommon depth and complexity, which will age beautifully for 10-15 years.
