A brief history
Van Dyk Family Wines (VDFW) is a unique blend of our passion for our nation’s seniors and fine wine. The genesis of VDFW began with an article in Wine Spectator magazine describing how old wines provided structure, complexity, and consistency not possible from young vines and fruit. Just as old vines are the root stock for new young vines, so too are our nation’s elderly the root stock of today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
Wine aficionados agree the keys to an excellent wine are good grapes and a great winemaker. We were fortunate to have many close friends in the wine business who believed in and supported their goal to make a wine to raise awareness and money for seniors with a special focus on Alzheimer’s.
Our wines are made by world renown winemaker, Jean Hoefliger. Jean has worked and made wine in Borbeaux at Chateau Lynch-Bages and Chateau Carbonnieux, as well as wineries in South Africa, Italy, France, and Spain. In the Napa Valley Jean is making wines for AXR, The Debate, Clark Claudon, and Alpha Omega where he has worked as winemaker since its opening in 2006.
Jean’s unparalleled talent and reputation combined with grapes sourced from prestigious vineyards in the Napa Valley and at Alpha Omega have earned Van Dyk Family Wines many high scores and accolades from Robert Parker and other wine connoisseurs.
For over 67 years our family has dedicated their lives to the elderly - providing quality health care to seniors, serving them always with dignity and respect in their skilled care facilities, assisted living communities, adult day memory care, and home care companies.
