Palate
Like a mid-afternoon snack, the kind of wine that’s easy to open, throw back and savor. Citrusy, bright and tart, boasting a silky smoothness without too much pucker. A cool and refreshing finish, like breathing in that earthy summer scent with a faintly peppery background.
Growing Conditions
What a year for this Napa grape. The perfect amount of rain in winter; hot at the end of July to take the fruit from green to ripe golden at just the ideal time. This 2012 has the crisp, brightness of a classic sauv blanc with an unexpectedly polished finish. Polished and delicious. Our sophomore release and the time is definitely ripe.
Winemaking
We took optimally ripe sauvignon blanc grapes from two different blocks of a single vineyard and kept them separate. Each group was halfway fermented in stainless tanks for brightness, then completed fermentation in oak barrels for that smooth ending. The juice was united once and for all in tanks for a complexity that makes the blend a true standout.
Aging
10 months barrel aged. Combination of 44% Neutral French Oak Puncheons, 47% Neutral French Oak Barrels, 9% Stainless Steel Barrel.
