Growing Conditions
The vineyard is located 3 miles west of Oakville, 1000’ above sea level.
After a hiatus due to phylloxera, the vineyard was replanted in 2007.
The volcanic soils at the site allow for excellent drainage.
Eastern aspect of the ranch provides some relief from extreme heat events.
Harvest
2013 was an early, relatively warm growing season that produced rich, dense long-lived wines.
Harvest started on September 7th, finished on September 28th.
Winemaking
Gentle handling – cluster and berry sorted, native yeast fermentations in small open-top tanks.
Aging
30 months in French Oak chateau barrels, 65% new, Taransaud and Demptos.
