Palate

The fresh aromas of strawberry, cherry blossom, rose petal and crisp apple lead to a lush palate where the aromas ring true. The wine offers upfront fruit flavors, yet is balanced by creamy texture and bright acidity. The effervescence of the wine lends to the crisp, clean finish.

Growing Conditions

2016 was another great vintage throughout California, on par with the previous wonderful 2015 vintage. Warm spring temperatures and even weather throughout the growing season led to an earlier than normal harvest for most of the Napa Valley and other regions throughout the state. California’s continued drought led to lower yields in the vineyards but produced fruit of exceptional quality, concentrated fruit flavors and color.

Winemaking

Winemaker Harry Hansen takes great care in crafting a deliciously balanced base wine that highlights the delicate strawberry and cherry blossom aromas and flavors. Both the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir are fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness. First and second pressings are blended to add depth, layers of flavor and complexity. The Pinot Noir remains on skins for a limited amount of time to extract subtle color and some tannin which gives the final wine balanced structure. The sparkling is made using the Charmat Method, or Cuveé Close, giving the wine a delicate but persistent effervescence.
