Nose
Bright cherry and blackberry fruit with a bit of sage sprinkled on top greets the nose.
Palate
The fruit follows nicely in the mouth with the herbal notes adding complexity and moderate tannins giving a beautiful mouth feel. The herbs slightly outweigh the fruit in the finish and complement the tannin to provide a pleasant, lingering accompaniment to a variety of foods. This elegant wine, although approachable in its youth, will reward those with the ability and patience to age it for 10 to 15 years.
Growing Conditions
We enjoyed exceptional growing conditions in 2012. The long season, moderate temperature, lack of major heat spikes, and lack of rains during most of harvest made for one of the best vintages in recent memory.
Aging
25 months in neutral French oak
Food Pairing
For a delightful combination try it with Italian sausage, peppers and onions. Use a splash of the wine to deglaze the pan before you add the tomato sauce and don’t forget to add a pinch of red pepper flake for a little kick.
