Nose
This deeply colored Cabernet Sauvignon presents aromas of rich blackberry, cedar and a touch of vanilla.
Palate
On the palate the wine shows flavors of dark cherry, and mocha with a full mouthfeel and long distinguished finish. This elegantly textured wine will age gracefully over the next 20-30 years.
Harvest
2014 was another early and excellent harvest in the Napa Valley. The 2013/2014 winter was one of the driest on record in California and rainfall totals in the Napa Valley were approximately half of normal. However, the timing could not have been better. Heavy rains in late February and early March gave the vines a much-needed drink of water as they were emerging from dormancy and about to begin bud break. An even fruit set created abundant yields; the third large harvest in a row with amazing quality and depth of flavor.
Winemaking
Our fruit is triple sorted before de-stemming, then fermented at 90 degrees in stainless steel tanks and pumped over twice daily. Gently pressed at zero brix and aged for 19 months in 100% new oak from Troncais, Nevers and Alliers and coopered into thin-staved, medium-plus toast Chateau Ferre barrels by coopers Tarransaud, Saury, Darnajou and Nadalie. To preserve fruit intensity and body, the wine was not fined or filtered prior to bottling.
