Palate

Showing excellent flavors and finesse, Seavey’s third flagship vintage resembles a great classic Bordeaux with cherries, black olives, and a seamless silken texture. The grapes for this historic vintage came from vines planted in 1982 and 1983 in six different locations of our south-facing hillside vineyard.

Growing Conditions

Seavey's third estate-produced Cabernet, the 1992, was made from grapes that came from vines planted in 1982 and 1983 in different locations of the south-facing hillside vineyard. Early budbreak was followed by a prolonged bloom induced by cool weather. June brought unseasonable rain, but worries of ill effects were erased by the warm, dry weather which followed and continued through the summer. The grapes were harvested during September, following high temperatures in August followed by a return to cool nights.

Winemaking

In making the 1992, William Seavey and Gary Galleron followed classic Bordeaux methods. Cabernet grapes from vines planted in 1982 and 1983 on the south-facing hills were harvested at 24 degrees Brix. The juice remained in contact with the skins for an average of 28 days.
