The 2013 ICON displays alluring blackberry, mulberry, and blueberry with exciting hints of anise and pie spice. Lively and weighty, this wine has wonderful tannins and texture, offering structure and grip without being aggressive. Its generous finish is a blend of fruit and spice that carries on long after the wine has left your mouth.
Growing Conditions
Ravenswood’s ICON is a revival of this traditional native Sonoma Mixed Blacks blend produced from old, low-production vineyards planted before Prohibition, and is a tribute to Sonoma County’s incredible ancient vines.
Winemaking
100% native yeast. Fermented separately in small open-top fermenters, manual punchdowns, 8 days skin contact
Aging
19 months in French oak barrels, 40% new.
