A brief history
Perliss Estate is a small, family owned vineyard in northern Calistoga at the base of Mount St. Helena. The three acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard has been overseen since its inception by winemaker Aaron Pott. Planted on a knoll alongside an oak and madrone forest, the rows mount a slope comprised of volcanic, rocky and loamy soil. 24-hour temperatures can range well over thirty degrees, as cool nights and foggy mornings are followed by warm, sunny days. Valley winds provide good air-flow among the vines. The organically farmed grapes are hand harvested and naturally fermented with minimal intervention. Barrel aging occurs over twenty months in French oak barrels. The resulting wine is elegant and age worthy.
