Nose

Our 2014 Syrah is
seductive with aromas of blueberry compote, sweet cranberry, dried herbs
and a savory finish.

Palate

The first sip envelops the palate with luxuriously mouthfilling
tannins and flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, mulberry and molasses.
Fleshy and smooth, this meaty wine is complex with accents of spicy oak,
vanilla bean and violet. Our 2014 Syrah is the perfect BBQ pairing and will
continue to develop for the next 5- 7 years. Enjoy now through 2022.

Growing Conditions

Persephone Vineyard is our 350-acre estate in the heart of Pope Valley, a
largely undiscovered grape-growing region in the northeast corner of Napa
Valley. The ranch is planted with 130 acres of vines, which includes our
Bordeaux grape varieties as well as Zinfandel, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and
Chardonnay. At nearly 1,000 feet elevation, the area is characterized by wide
temperature swings and little fog, which allows for a consistent growing
season and produces fruit with rich, focused flavor, and a precise sense of
place. Persephone is sustainably farmed, moving towards organic certification.

The 2014 harvest has been termed a “dream vintage” regarding quality. In
spite of the ongoing drought and the South Napa earthquake, the wines
showed great depth of flavor, intense aromatics, and were excellent overall.
Well-timed rains in February and March gave much needed water to the
vines while emerging from dormancy and through bud break. A mild
spring and warm summer provided ideal growing conditions, leading to
an early jump on harvest. We look back on this vintage and celebrate our
good fortune of another bountiful year with undeniably excellent fruit.
