Nose

This complex wine has intriguing aromas of high-tone red fruits, wild herbs, espresso and new tobacco.

Palate

On the palate, it shows expressive flavors of ripe raspberry, cherry, plum, orange rind and savory spices. This wine has nice rounded tannins, vibrant acidity and a dry finish.

Growing Conditions

Pauli Ranch is a vineyard planted by the Mondavi’s just north of Ukiah on the valley floor. This benchland vineyard lies in an old river bed with gravely soil, which helps to produce a full flavored Barbera. Hand tended and handpicked.

Bottling

September 15, 2013.

Winemaking

The grapes were hand-picked and rushed to the winery. Cold
soaked for three days, then fermented in open top tanks and
punched down twice a day.

Aging

Barrel aged for twelve months in 30% new French and Hungarian oak barrels.
