A brief history

Luc and Jodie Morlet handcraft vins de terroir and unique cuvées from the Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast. The historic winery is located in St. Helena, and their Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc ‘Cœur de Vallée’ vineyard is situated in the renowned Oakville appellation.

Robert M. Parker, Jr. proclaimed that Luc, who was raised and educated in France, “is not only a fabulous winemaking talent, he knows how to bring the French savoir-faire of complexity, elegance and precision to the ripe, concentrated, intense fruit of California.”

Meet The Team

  • Luc Morlet

    Wine has always been a way of life for Luc Morlet. Born in Epernay, France to a fifth-generation winegrower family, Luc grew up working on his family’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay domaine, Pierre Morlet & Fils, in Avenay-Val-d’Or, Champagne. As a child, he enjoyed learning about the practical and technical aspects of vineyard farming and winemaking. Luc earned a Master's Degree in Œnology from the Université de Reims and holds both a Viticulture degree from École Viticole de Champagne and an MBA in Wine Business from the Burgundy School of Business in Dijon. His university studies were put into practice during years of work at prestigious châteaux and domaines in Bordeaux and Burgundy. Luc further perfected his skills making Bordeaux-style wines under the guidance of internationally revered consultant Jacques Boissenot. Soon after leaving France in 1996 to join his wife Jodie in her native California, Luc earned world-wide recognition as the winemaker for Peter Michael Winery. He and Jodie began crafting wines under the Morlet Family Vineyards label in 2006, at which time Luc transitioned from full-time to consulting winemaker for the Michael family. Passionate for both the expression of terroir as well as for a continuous pursuit of the ultimate quality, Luc refers to his winemaking philosophy as “neo-classic laissez-faire without compromise.” As part of this ongoing effort, Luc designed and developed a premium sorting device named ‘Le Trieur.’ Robert M.
