This dedication led us to Santa Barbara County’s renowned Sta. Rita Hills AVA, where Peake Ranch has emerged as one of the Central Coast’s most exciting vineyards. Grown on a steep, northwest-facing slope cooled by clockwork wine and fog off the Pacific, the Wente Clone vines on our prized block of Peake Ranch yield a radiant Chardonnay that combines verve and tension with alluring citrus flavors and sophisticated hints of orange blossom and sea spray minerality.

Established in 1973, Bien Nacido has earned a reputation as one of California’s premier vineyards. Our prized blocks include original 1973 plantings, as well as vines planted in 1991. Grown in soils with abundant limestone, these older vines produce a gorgeous Chardonnay with complex minerality, a lovely texture and multilayered citrus and orange blossom flavors.

Planted in the low-vigor soils of the Santa Maria Valley, the vines face the full force of the wind and fog off the Pacific. Grown in sandy soils, Dierberg’s meticulously farmed vines face the full force of the winds that sweep off the Pacific, producing low yields of concentrated Chardonnay. The result is a wine with length and force that is highlighted by bright acidity and beautiful peach, nectarine and white flower aromatics.

This exploration has taken us to the hillsides of Dutton Ranch in the heart of Green Valley - the coolest and foggiest part of the Russian River Valley. At Dutton Ranch, ideal Goldridge soils, and a mix of elite clones, produce a complex and aromatically driven wine with bright cherry, cranberry and red raspberry layers, supported by beautiful acidity and sophisticated notes of Asian spice and earth.

Since 1982, Charles Heintz Vineyard in Green Valley has emerged as a legendary site for world-class Chardonnay. Located atop the second ridge inland from the Pacific at an elevation of 900 feet, Heintz is a warmer vineyard in a very cool winegrowing region. This unique combination creates a gracefully balanced wine that combines the richness and intensity of perfectly ripened old vine fruit with the structure and acidity of great Sonoma Coast winegrowing.
