Nose

An intense nose of clove, sassafras, and dark cherry reveals a structured, but plush wine with dark, brambly fruit, earthy notes, and a light touch of anisette on the finish.

Palate

Intense. Dense. Subtle. This is a wine of contradiction, much like its cantankerous namesake. This is a wine that bursts out of the gate, exhibiting a vivacious nature, a wine that will unveil an abundance of aromas and flavors as it opens in the glass and as it ages in the bottle.

Harvest

The fruit for Stormin’ was harvested relatively late, on October 21, 2010, following a cool growing season. Spring brought greater than average rainfall and cooler weather than normal. The cooling trend continued throughout the summer months, lowering yields, but allowing for a long hang time and ripening period for the grapes. The resulting wines display balanced acidity and great complexity.

Aging

14 months French oak, 40% new
