Nose
Jolie, continuing to be the most elegant and oral of the Maggy Hawk wines, is introduced with delicate notes of tea leaves and aromas of rose petals and jasmine blossoms, with a hint of wild strawberry.
Palate
A nuanced, slightly woodsy palate reveals sweet spice flavors, fresh blueberry, and pomegranate, with very supple tannins. This is an alluring, beautiful wine that once again shows the beauty of Pinot Noir.
Harvest
The fruit for Jolie was harvested relatively late, on October 21, 2010, following a cool growing season. Spring brought greater than average rainfall and cooler weather than normal. The cooling trend continued throughout the summer months, lowering yields, but allowing for a long hang time and ripening period for the grapes. The resulting wines display balanced acidity and great complexity.
Aging
14 months French oak, 31% new
