Nose

On the nose, Afleet opens with dark aromas of blackberry, violets, cigar box and anise.

Palate

The palate exposes rich flavors of blueberry, vanilla bean, and espresso that combine with hints of forest floor to reveal a wine with rm acidity and a plush, velvety texture. This is a wine with exceptional consistency each year, a wine that will age gracefully – a true tribute to its namesake, Afleet Alex.

Harvest

The 2011 harvest in Anderson Valley started much later than usual and the fruit for Afleet was picked on October 24th, 2011. Similar to the 2010 vintage, 2011 was characterized by heavy spring rains and cooler weather than normal. The combination of rain and a long, cool growing season throughout the spring and summer contributed to lower than average yields. The resulting wines exhibit great concentration and elegance with balanced acidity.
