Nose

Bright, fresh aromas of blueberry, violets, and cherry pipe tobacco entwine with sandalwood on the nose as Afleet says hello.

Palate

Wrapping around the palate with velvety tannins, the wine reveals the earthy influences of loganberry and sumac with hints of leather and cedar on the finish. This is a wine with exceptional consistency each year, a wine that will age gracefully—a true tribute to its namesake, Afleet Alex.

Harvest

The fruit for Afleet was harvested relatively late, on October 16, 2010, following a cool growing season. Spring brought greater than average rainfall and cooler weather than normal. The cooling trend continued throughout the summer months, lowering yields, but allowing for a long hang time and ripening period for the grapes. The resulting wines display balanced acidity and great complexity
