Nose

A savory nose of shitake mushroom, red licorice, and ripe strawberry.

Palate

Full-bodied, with riveting acidity, it feels weighty with complexity. Blackstrap molasses is accented by cherry and sweet tobacco.

Growing Conditions

Sun Chase Vineyard is located on Sonoma Mountain in the Petaluma Gap AVA. At 1400 feet in elevation, this is the highest elevation vineyard in the Petaluma Gap AVA. Its name is a play on one of the best qualities of the site, the Sun literally chases away the fog each morning as it pushes back through the gap in the Sonoma Coast, only to return again at night to cool the vineyard. This combination of a long day of sun with cooling winds, and cold night temperatures provides the grapes the long hang time needed for extended and balanced ripening.
