In 2007, Alex Guarachi poured his passion for building wine brands into his own boutique label, Guarachi Family Wines, with well-crafted and limited bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Napa Valley and Pinot Noir sourced from the Sonoma Coast. In 2013, Guarachi Family Wines acquired the Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap AVA of Sonoma Coast, and in 2014 acquired Meadowrock Vineyard in the Atlas Peak AVA of Napa Valley. These estate properties, acquired for their unique attributes, allow Guarachi Family Wines to develop and refine our fruit sources, ensuring quality from vineyard to bottle. In 2017, a winery was completed at the Meadowrock Vineyard.

Guarachi Family Wines focuses on three key varietals:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and are sourced from micro-lots within the two Estate Vineyards, Sun Chase and Meadowrock, with multiple picks through the blocks each harvest to ensure each vine is harvested at the peak of ripeness and quality. 

As we are obsessed with quality, all of the grapes we select for our wines are either grown from our estate vineyards or meticulously sourced from the highest 1% of vineyards within the regions finest growing areas.

Alex Guarachi is owner and winemaker of Guarachi Family Wines and founder of Guarachi Wine Partners (formally TGIC Global Fine Wine Company).

In 2007, after 22 years of serving as the founder and president of GWP, Alex Guarachi poured his passion for building wine brands into his own high end & boutique label, Guarachi Family Wines, with well-crafted and limited bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. It has since expanded with the acquisition of prestigious estate vineyards, such as Meadowrock in the Atlas Peak appellation of Napa Valley and Sun Chase overlooking Gap’s Crown in the Sonoma Coast Petaluma Wind Gap.

Sun Chase Pinot Noir

In 2013, Alex Guarachi purchased the Sun Chase Vineyard – a majestic property perched above the fog line on Sonoma Mountain at 1,400 feet above sea level. Sun Chase gets its name due to the diurnal temperatures and conditions that include morning fog that breaks during the day as the Sun “chases the fog” away throughout the day, for warm, even ripening during the growing season. Sun Chase is located in the Petaluma Wind Gap, a sub-AVA of Sonoma Coast (established 2017) and the only AVA to be designated solely due to wind.

The strong coastal winds that flow through the “Petaluma Gap” from the Pacific Ocean, create small clusters of berries with thick skins. Upon crush, this creates a higher skin to juice ratio and results in wines with greater concentration and flavor. 

While Sun Chase is primarily a Pinot Noir vineyard, there are but a few blocks and acres of outstanding quality Chardonnay. For the past few vintages, these grapes have been sold to select high-end wineries for their luxury Chardonnay wines. Guarachi is proud to introduce its first Estate Bottled Sun Chase Single Vineyard Chardonnay with its 2016 vintage.
