Gallo Signature Series

A brief history

In many ways, a bottle of wine is a story. A story of words and years and people, woven into every glass. Our wines honor an extraordinary story that began in 1933 with our visionary founders, Ernest and Julio Gallo. As we cherish our traditions and look forward to the future, our Gallo Signature Series and Gallo Estate wines celebrate how far we've come. These wines showcase our unique estate vineyards and reflect the personal passion of third-generation winemaker Gina Gallo.

When Ernest and Julio Gallo founded E. & J. Gallo Winery in 1933, they were armed with little more than an entrepreneurial spirit and sheer determination. Ultimately, they were instrumental in establishing California’s thriving wine industry, and they built an enduring family legacy in winemaking.

Nearly 40 years ago, our family made a commitment to Sonoma County, building longstanding relationships with the Frei brothers and the MacMurray family that served as a catalyst for developing some of Sonoma’s most renowned vineyards: Laguna Ranch Vineyard and MacMurray Ranch in the Russian River Valley and Frei Ranch Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley. With the addition of the legendary Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma County; Louis M. Martini Winery and William Hill Estate Winery in Napa Valley; and Olson Ranch, Bridlewood Estate Winery and Edna Valley Vineyard in the Central Coast, we have assembled an extraordinary collection of vineyards in California.

Today, with a nod to the past and an eye toward the future, third-generation winemaker Gina Gallo carries on our family’s winemaking tradition, expressing the depth of character found in our diverse vineyards.
