Nose

The nose is dominated by pomegranate and red raspberry and those notes continue of the palate.

Palate

The wine is very pretty and delineated with nice acidity.

Growing Conditions

Perched on a rocky hillside high above the Petaluma Gap, on the side of Sonoma Mountain, the vineyard enjoys excellent drainage and good airflow. While it is a relatively cool site It tends to produce riper fruit then either Sonoma Stage or Platt Vineyard.

Harvest

The 2015 Vintage started with a cool spring that limited crop yields severely…especially in the Sonoma Coast. The lower crop yields produced a fairly intense vintage with riper fruit profiles.

Winemaking

Our Pinot Noir fermentations are relatively short…typically lasting form 9-11 days. We don’t have a rule based approach to using whole clusters but most ferments include 10-20% whole clusters.

Aging

The wine was aged in Francois Freres, Boutes, and Rousseau barrels for 14 months.
