Nose

The nose exhibits our characteristic ripe red and black fruits.

Palate

The palate progresses with pomegranate, rainier cherry, red currant, blackberry and hazelnut. The texture of the wine is both silky and opulent. In my tastings decanting the wine elevated both the aromatics and the fruit profile.

Harvest

For the second year in a row there were no damaging weather events and fruit condition was excellent. We did a little bit higher percentage of whole clusters in 2013 and we like the results.

Winemaking

The grapes were vinified in 3 ton Taransaud oak fermenters, and, as is common with Pinot Noir, the ferments progressed quite rapidly. The wines were on skins for between 11 and 13 days, pressed in our VaslinBucher basket press.

Aging

50% new Francois Freres and Rousseau barrels.
