A brief history
Monticello Vineyards is a family-owned Napa Valley winery rooted in the Oak Knoll District. Founded by the Corley family in 1970, Monticello began as a vineyard before producing its first estate wines in 1980. More than five decades later, the family continues to farm the same land with a focus on estate-grown wines, thoughtful hospitality, and the belief that great wine begins in the vineyard.
First generation Jay Corley was brought to the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley as he was inspired by Burgundy and looked for a place to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Over the last five decades, we grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah across our five estate vineyards. Today, the second and third generations continue to steward Monticello forward, sharing wines shaped by land, people, connection, hard work, and care.
A visit to Monticello offers a quieter side of Napa Valley: real people, real stories, and real wine in a peaceful, personal, unhurried setting.
