Palate
The strawberry and raspberry notes of the 115 clone fruit were particularly dominant this year. The 777 clone berries held the sweetness in check with darker, earthier flavors resulting in a delicious, structured and multi-dimensional pinot.
Growing Conditions
Coeur Du Val is a neighboring vineyard to our own in the Templeton Gap area of Paso Robles’ west side. The slightly cooler west side micro-climate and limestone soils are ideal for Pinot Noir. We picked from two separate blocks in the vineyard, planted to 777 and 115 clones, respectively. We selected rows we considered to be ideally situated on the sloping site for optimum sunlight and peak ripeness.
Harvest
The tiny 2011 yield gave us enough fruit for just two barrels.
Aging
the wine aged in 50% new French oak 50% neutral American oak barrels.
