Palate
2012 Foggy Bottom Reserve exhibits the dark fruit flavors and earthy notes that are characteristic of the 777 Pinot Noir clone. An early tasting of the wine also reveals a lightness and subtlety that should delight Pinot lovers.
Growing Conditions
Hidden Valley Vineyard is our Estate vineyard, located in Paso Robles’ Westside, just south of scenic Highway 46 West. Late in the growing season, the coastal influence that creates the cooler Templeton Gap micro-climate often brings a swirling morning fog to the lower parts of the vineyard. Our Pinot Noir block is planted at the lowest, coolest spot in the field which we nicknamed “Foggy Bottom." We use the tiny yield from this area of the vineyard to create our Reserve bottling.
Harvest
The Hidden Valley fruit was harvested on September 28th 2012.
Bottling
The wine was racked and bottled unfiltered.
Winemaking
After a 3 day cold soak and 10 days on skins, the wine was pressed at dryness.
Aging
We aged for 20 months on the lees, in both new and seasoned French cooperage.
