Palate

It is medium-bodied and has bold flavors of cracked black pepper, black cherry and toasted oak, creating a kinship with Syrah from the Rhone Valley in France and not with the heavier, warm-climate Syrah found elsewhere.

Growing Conditions

These grapes are grown in a region of Sonoma County that is swept by Pacific Ocean breezes coming in from San Pablo Bay, creating morning fog, warm days and cool evenings. This portion of Sonoma County is one of the most prized grape growing regions in the state, bringing forth grapes of deep concentrated notes of fresh blueberry, dark color and supple tannins.

Winemaking

Grapes were gently de-stemmed and only lightly crushed to preserve the fruit and limit harsh tannins. A cultured wine yeast was introduced and a moderate fermentation temperature maintained in closed stainless steel tanks. The wine was pumped-over two to three times a day and pressed from the skins at dryness.

Appearance

Deep red-purple color.

Food Pairing

A great match for grilled Salmon and sautéed vegetables served over pasta.
