Palate
The palate is richly textured with hints of toasted cherry wood and lingering spice, notably star anise and black pepper.
Growing Conditions
Our Malbec is sourced from the Justi Creek Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, a benchland site with gravely soils and eastern exposure. This site produces small berries that give dense and rich texture and has always displayed the intense spicy character this grape is known for. The 2012 vintage offered a long growing season, which is particularly favorable for Malbec.
Winemaking
Fermented in stainless steel; 100% ML.
Aging
Aged for 24 months in 33% new oak barrels, mostly French, and 67% seasoned oak barrels.
