This is an opulent Pinot Noir with perfumes of black cherry, raspberry compote, cola, clove, toast, and wet earth.
The palate follows the nose with concentrated black cherry cola flavors mixed with bright red raspberry pie. There are hints of flowers and toast in the background that play off the intense fruit. The oak and grape tannins are well balanced and very fine, like silk.
2014 in Napa started the third year in a row of a drought cycle. This Pinot grows near to Carneros in the Green Valley of Southern Napa, in a relatively cool spot. The growing season in the warm 2014 vintage was shorter, the grapes riper but there was plenty of flavor and color development. This is an elegant, but structured and powerful Pinot Noir.
