WestLands Pinot Noir is our nod to capturing the essence of the West Sonoma Coast. In the 2014 vintage, three vineyards were selected from the very cool climate driven regions of West Sebastopol and West Petaluma Wind Gap. O’Connor Vineyard is an old apple orchard planted to Pinot Noir clones over 25 years ago (we source Pommard and Clone 115 from this site). This, along with another very small, highly dense, private vineyard nearby on Barlow Lane (planted to Pommard and Swan Clones), share the magic of Goldridge soils and one of the foggiest climates of the region—superb for growing Pinot Noir. Mariani Vineyard balances the trio. Located in the western edge of the Petaluma Wind Gap, Mariani enjoys the stresses the wind brings to the vines along with the affects of cooling fog and mineral rich soils. Combined, these three vineyards add graceful texture and nuance to the wine.
